Most of what I learned on the nature walk was in regards to plants. I finally managed to make myself remember the name of poke weed. I also learned that oak leaves are a great deal larger and longer than I thought. We mostly have maples around our house so I didn't really know. I also learned to recognize Periwinkle flowers. Always before, I'd gotten those mixed up with Chicory flowers.
Our water test is determining the amount of phosphates in the water. It connects to our project in that compost is full of phosphates, that's what makes it so good for plants.
I'm doing the composting project. My group and I are going to attempt to convert the baseball dugout on the west side of the old baseball field into a compost pile for the schools use. I'm also gathering soil samples to compare them to composted soil.
My responsibilities at the moment mainly consist of gathering the soil samples as I'm not very good at things requiring strength and I'm the only one with access to a worm bin.

Carbon Footprint, Cont.
Ways I can reduce my carbon footprint at home are to use more green energy and less packaged goods.
At school I can recycle and bring my own lunch, made from stuff grown at home. In the community I can recycle and aid in projects promoting green energy and other such endeavors.
This has a connection to my project in that the whole point of the project is to reduce my carbon footprint and aid the planet. I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do yet, but I do know that the point will be to reduce the amount of waste created. Doing this will enable us to live more productively and with less negative impact on the Earth. Maybe we can eventually get it down until we only need one Earth to support us.

Yes, it's a good site for me. I think it would also be good for younger kids.
It would take 4 planet Earth's to support my lifestyle.

First Posting
There really aren't that many more things about the internet and technology that I want to learn about that I know of. Some of those I do want to learn about are how to use a mac, why the internet was created, the purpose behind it's being released for everyone to use. I want to learn to use a mac because it's just something I should probably know. I doubt I'll always be able to choose what type of system I use. As for why the internet was created, I don't really know why I want to know that. I just have an odd interest in that kind of thing. What I'm really curious about is how it came to be a commonly used system of communication. It just seems like a really odd idea.
As far as Global Science goes, I guess the main thing I want to learn about is climate. Most of the things we've covered in past science classes, such as tectonic plates and just normal weather, made plenty of sense to me. Unfortunately, climate still confuses me. What causes a specific climate to form? What causes a climate to shift and change? It's these kinds of things I don't understand, and that I'd like to learn.
